Welcome

Ficaddict is a site for readers, writers, and every fandom under the sun (it’s a mashup of sorts). The forum has categories for fanfic, genre fiction, general writing, art, book discussion, tweets and more. There is no flaming and no shaming, plus the site is brand spanking new, so if you’re in the market for a new hangout–check it out!

Published authors, please note: there’s a special category for you at the Reading Round Table. You can post excerpts, release dates, cover art, and anything else you can think of to get the word out about your book(s). You are also welcome to put banners, buttons, and links in your signature. Please see the General Forum Rules for more information.

July 8, 2011

The forum is now open to the public. Registration is required, but account approvals will be done several times a day. In most cases, it will take no more than 24 hours for your account to be activated. In order to expedite the process, please choose a username that somewhat resembles a real name or nickname. Bots are a constant problem on message boards, and the first thing I look at it is whether or not the username appears to have been computer generated. Names like “Htripxolis” for example, will be automatically denied.

Also, there are still a couple of bugs I’m trying to fix. One, you may get an error message that says “This board has no forums.” Ignore it, and select either “Register” or “Login” depending on which option you’re there for. Second, you may have to login twice, or you may be logged out after each session in spite of selecting “Log me on automatically.”

My apologies for the hassle…both issues seem to be a result of the customized styles. I can fix them by going back to a default style, but the default is ugly, and we no likey. ;)

Don’t See What You’re Looking For?

Email me, use the Contact page, or post a thread on the forum with your suggestions and/or requests. Ficaddict just opened, and I’m looking to build a community. If you have a group you need space for, whether it’s a writers’ group, a book club, or fandom, I may be able to accommodate you. Fandoms should be author/book-related or have fanfic associated with them, but don’t let that stop you from asking. I know there’s a lot of crossover in fanfic right now, so it’s not always that black and white. I’m not going to turn you down for an Anna Paquin category if you bring a couple dozen True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse fics to my door, for example.

Holy crap. Did that make any sense? Let me just say this: we’re new, and we need readers, writers, reviewers, and content of all kinds. If you think we could benefit each other, drop me a line.
